No one asked 🤣 but here’s how my 2024 is going… Bloody swimmingly. Our best days ladder up to our best life and I’m learning they starts with the commitment we make to ourselves and follow through on each and every day. Do you have a set morning routine you stick to that works for you? Have you tried on COUNTLESS activities only to find nothing sticks? Perhaps it’s the data nerd in me, but reflecting through old journals and taking inventory of how I was actually spending my time, how I could sense I was feeling and the ACTUAL results I was getting in my career led me to determine what truly is foundational to me living into my best self. For me, this looks like: 🚴‍♀️ Cycle to work🥗 Packed lunch 💼 Get things ready and organised (including any errands I might need to run) As a byproduct of this routine I find I get daily exercise (sometimes I take the long route, sometimes the short route), drink less during the week (can’t drink and ride yo!), plan my days better and overall, have more energy that’s also more stable. So this year, these are my non-negotiables. The small commitments I make to myself that help me bring my BEST most VIBRANT and ENERGETIC self to my work. #authenticallyambitious #datanerd #consultinglife #worklifebalance #workhard #worklifebalancegoals #worklifeintegration

That’s a wrap for work in 2023. Closed out the year finishing what we set out to do. My goal this year was to build up our advanced analytics function and we did it (by 411% in fact)! More importantly though, I found my authentically ambitious leadership style. A way to manage and lead a team in a way that aligns to values I can stand behind. Going to bed every evening feeling proud. Doing hard things. Having tough conversations. Kicking goals without playing dirty. This year had many lessons but the most profound was a personal one. I learned to see my contribution through the hands of others. Through enabling, offering them the tools, connecting them with the experts they need, removing blockers and empowering them to grow and achieve greatness. I used to only see my value as being work I executed with my own hands. This year I’ve been able to see the compounding effect that great leadership can have on teams, helping us to achieve more than we thought we could. Cracking 2023. Looking forward to another year ahead. With personal stories and lessons learned dropping in your ears, Jan 2024. 👂 🎤

Have you ever felt totally dismissed when you’re

Have you ever felt totally dismissed when you’re in a conversation with someone, articulate your point (in a way that you think landed like total perfection 👌🏻) only to have them say… “BUT! What about …?” Engaging in critical discourse is so important. It helps us challenge our own perspective - and that’s where the growth is. BUT (😉) * kidding* AND… (there you go…)…when we hear the word “BUT” we often immediately feel like our initial perspective has been totally dismissed. Depending on the level of rapport you have and the resilience of the person you are engaging with, it’s a fast way to immediately get them on the back foot. AND when that happens, you have no chance of meaningfully connecting OR driving growth if you are coaching someone through your point. Let’s walk through an example. * Person A shares their experience. *Option A) “BUT you’re not thinking about their perspective on this?” Option B) “I hear that, AND, I wonder if there’s another perspective to consider when thinking through their position on this”It’s a simple swap with BIG benefits. Get in the habit of swapping your “but’s” with “and’s”. Do you think you could see this working for you? #leadership #coaching #influence #consulting #career

It might seem like I’ve been away, but I’ve merely been spinning up the most soul-aligned calling to yap about my deepest stories and secrets for finding, securing and LIVING the career dreams are made of (can’t help but hear Hilary Duff sing that line, whoswithme!?)I couldn’t help but continue to ponder… side hustle culture tells us we need a 5-9 after our 9-5. The hustle bros tell us not to work for the man (or WOman 💁🏻‍♀️) and quiet quitters tell us to do the bare minimum. I couldn’t help but KNOW there’s something in between. I know this because I am living it. I’m loving it not because I got lucky, but because I dang well created it. It’s time to give the Authentically Ambitious folks the corner of the internet we deserve. down the noise, get quiet, look inside and listen to that inner knowing we all have. The intuition that directs us to crafting an intentional map of a journey we can enjoy waking up to each and every day. We spend most of our lives working. What if that “work” felt like walking our totally aligned path? Of challenge, growth, deep connected relationships, vulnerability, wins, failures and in the end, retirement having known we had fun along the way and dove the impact we wanted to. This beautiful fur baby of mine in happier times 🖤🤍🐈‍⬛ This past week was a roller coaster of emotions after this fluffball fell unwell. This is us in happier times while studying Nicola Clement’s eCommerce P&L course earlier this year. It’s been a forced reminder to slow down and be grateful. 🤍 Grateful for the specialist care our emergency Vet’s gave our boy 🖤 Grateful for a team who jumped at the opportunity to step in for me so I could take the time needed to care for my fluff ball 🖤 Grateful he recovered well and is back to his old self meowing for food every 5 minutes 😅 My heart this week is just filled with gratitude 🙏 Happy Friday.

Reflect but don’t dwell ✨One of the best lessons my dad ever taught me was to “reflect but not dwell”. When I heard this audio, it spoke to me.You don’t always know where you are going or where it could take you. Put one foot in front of the other anyway. If you are putting yourself out there and daring to be courageous, you will fall. It’s as much about the journey than anything. The sooner one realises that high performers have it exactly the same as low performers, only they have the resilience to reflect on what didn’t work, get back up and try again, the sooner one will feel comforted that this too shall pass. I never hear anyone talk about this, but without it, you’ll have a hell of a difficult time influencing change 💁🏻‍♀️** drumroll ** Being likeable. No, you won’t be liked by everyone (nor should you hope for this).There are two parts to this. ☝️There is generally, making an effort to be a kind human. Not interrupting people and ensuring people feel heard. Creating space for everyone to take turns “holding the mic” 🎤 (as I say). Giving credit where credit is due, not steamrolling people and being a generally reasonable person who is curious to learn and open to changing their mind. That’s the first bit. Secondly, being “likeable” can also be more strategic. No, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s malicious or manipulative. Knowing how to conduct regular stakeholder mapping exercises, getting familiar with different people’s agendas and the way they like to communicate and then, where the power and influence lives in a group setting can all be useful pieces of information for driving change. I reflected this week and crafted a little worksheet to step through some of these questions in the hope it helps those who are needing to reassess their landscape to drive alignment and change. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you are 💯 worth changing your life for. Those who know me well, know that I’ve struggled with my oral health for years. Being in a position to be able to invest in myself and my health in this way has felt entirely life changing. Not only do I now have the confidence to smile, but I am genuinely happier (as smiling leads to increased levels of dopamine, serotonin and can even support one’s immune system). Beyond this, my oral health and digestion have improved and most importantly, my happiness in myself knowing I back myself to invest in ME. Going through this journey, I found it so difficult to find detailed information online about the end to end process of undergoing a smile transformation through the use of dental crowns. In particular, the process of having temporaries before the permanents are put in (how it feels every step of the way).Would you be interested in a detailed blog post about my experience on the blog? A bit of a different style of post but one I would be so happy to detail (who knew how different it would feel to eat at every stage)! The blog is clearly evolving into sharing a little more about my inner life.
